Choreography

Concert Dance

Many of my work samples feature material made for the concert dance stage. I aim to use this space as a ground for interdisciplinary collaboration and exploration with the dancers. I often use the concert dance stage as a platform to incite social change within my community

Theatre

Much of my work happens in the theatre as a choreographer and movement director. Whether the project is a musical theatre piece or a straight play, I consistently approach the process with a sense of open curiosity and a commitment to clear storytelling.

Watch Your Step (2023) - Part 1

Commenting on the devastation of biodiversity in coral reefs due to climate change and global stressors, Watch Your Step is a plea to humanity to increase respect for the planet we live on.

Watch Your Step (2023) - Part 2

Commenting on the devastation of biodiversity in coral reefs due to climate change and global stressors, Watch Your Step is a plea to humanity to increase respect for the planet we live on.

Released (2022)

Inspired by prison abolitionists, "Released" examines the experiences of previously incarcerated women in North Carolina. This work explores the concept of collateral consequences, which are legalized restrictions placed on individuals following their release from incarceration limiting their ability to fully participate in society.

Squishy Boxes, Revisited (2022)

A spontaneous choreographic study inspired by an exhibition by visual artist, Alyson Shotz at the Weatherspoon Art Museum. Shotz's work in this exhibition intertwined sculptural and mixed-media art with studies in mathematics, physics, geology, space, and time. Squishy Boxes, Revisited was specifically inspired by Cubes and Laws of Motion.

Daggers (2020)

Inspired by a line from Barbara Dilley’s ‘musings’ - “May wars cease and peace be in our breathing” - Daggers is an exploration of war and violence, birthed from a collaborative choreographic process and a Viewpoints practice.

Give Peace a Chance (2019)

This piece is my attempt at the expression of the irony found in peace and war, and the dualities that exist within ourselves.

Kindled Echoes (2018)

Inevitably, people will drift and relationships will shift, sometimes becoming an echo of what they once were. This piece reflects how we change each other, always retaining something from those we’ve come into contact with, even if that person is no longer an immediate presence.

Choo Choo Honeymoon (2018)

Set to music from “Dames at Sea,” this is a playful moment of musical theatre dance isolated from its storyline and invited onto the concert dance stage.

Rise (2014)

Rise is a unique collaboration among a visual artist, music composer, and dance choreographer. This is the final version of the piece performed in King Concert Hall as part of the Walter Gloor series.
