Yoga

Personal Practice

I found yoga on my healing journey from the toxic body culture of the dance world. Through yoga I learned to honor the body that I show up with to the mat each day, and eliminate unnecessary expectations. I hope to foster this approach in my students as well.

Teaching

I teach two classes each week for Kaplan Wellness Center at UNCG (M/W 12:30-1:30), and have also been teaching classes online over the last year, scheduled individually. I recently completed a one year work study position with Revolution Hot Yoga in Greensboro, NC. This studio teaches in the Bikram lineage and focuses on 90 minute flow and traditional 26&2 class structures. While I do not teach Bikram yoga exclusively, it does inform my practice and sequencing in various ways.

Training

I am a 200 hour RYT with the Yoga Alliance. I trained as a yoga teacher in Asheville, North Carolina. I teach in-person and virtual yoga classes of all sizes, as well as private lessons.

Goals

As a yoga teacher, I hope to present an accurate anatomical and somatic practice for my students. I try to listen as much as I speak in class, and lead my students in the practice that they are seeking, giving options for all levels and possible injuries. I think yoga should be accessible to all, and I teach on a sliding scale. If you are a social services organization that gives back to our community, I would be happy to come teach yoga at your facility for free.
